Ski and Snowboard in Verbier
Verbier, located in the heart of the Alps, is the largest fully skiable area in Switzerland, offering an incomparable experience for ski enthusiasts. With a season running from mid-November to the end of April, skiers can explore 412 km of varied pistes, divided into 34% blue runs, 29% reds, 28% blacks, and numerous ski itineraries. The ski area extends from 1,500 to 3,330 meters above sea level, served by 92 modern cable cars.
Itineraries
In Verbier, off-piste itineraries, unique in Europe, offer an exceptional adventure for skiers and snowboarders in search of thrills. These unmarked, ungroomed routes, such as the famous Vallon d’Arby or Gentianes-Tortin, offer the chance to discover wild descents in the heart of the Alps, far from the traditional pistes. These routes offer an authentic freeride experience, but it’s crucial to always check safety conditions and route openness before venturing out, to fully and safely enjoy this wilderness exploration.
Cross-country skiing
Skiing in Verbier is mainly associated with downhill skiing, but there’s an unexpected little nugget to discover – cross-country skiing. At an altitude of 2,200 meters, you’ll find meticulously groomed trails suitable for both classic and skating styles. The trail is set in spectacular surroundings with views over the valley and the majestic Combins massif. You’ll encounter few people along the 2.5 kilometers of piste, making it a peaceful and quiet alternative to downhill skiing for those looking for something a little different.
Nocturnal seal skin
Around Verbier, ski touring with sealskin is a well-known and popular activity for mountain enthusiasts. However, an even more fascinating experience awaits those who dare to venture out after dark: nocturnal ski touring with sealskin. Imagine silently gliding across the snow under a starry sky, with only the moonlight illuminating the snow-covered peaks for company. Far from the hustle and bustle of a busy day, the night reveals a different face of Verbier, where the mountains become almost mystical. This intimate moment with nature offers a unique connection with the environment, transforming every climb into a memorable adventure.
Après-ski for everyone
After a day on the slopes, there’s nothing like prolonging the pleasure in a festive or relaxing atmosphere. Iconic venues such as the Ice Cube Bar and Mouton Noir, located directly on the slopes, invite you to enjoy a convivial drink while taking in breathtaking panoramic views and live DJ sets.
And if the idea of a drink doesn’t appeal to you, why not opt for an equally delicious après-ski with a comforting hot chocolate? With flushed cheeks and oxygenated bodies, taking the time to warm up indoors with a good hot chocolate is a real treat.
