Welcome to Verbier, where you can find lots of different ways to enjoy the snow. Here, we are lucky to have snow from November to April. Answer the irresistible call of the snow, and discover Verbier, a winter sports paradise.
Whether you want to glide down perfectly groomed slopes, immerse yourself in the adrenalin of freeriding, or to make your way through snowy landscapes – in snowshoes, on a sled, on cross-country skis, or on sealskin – Verbier is the perfect place.
Skiing and Snowboarding in Verbier
Verbier, situated at the heart of the Alps, is the largest fully skiable area in Switzerland, offering an incomparable experience for snow lovers. With a season that lasts from mid-November until the end of April, skiers can explore 412 km of varied pistes, divided into 34% blue runs, 29% red runs, 28% black runs, and many skiing itineraries. The area covers from 1500 to 3330 metres of altitude, connected by 92 modern cable cars.
Itineraries
In Verbier, hors-piste itineraries, which are the unique in Europe, offer an exceptional adventure for skiers and snowboarders who are looking for thrills. These unmarked, ungroomed routes, like the renowned Vallon d’Arby or the Gentianes-Tortin, allow you to discover wild downhills at the heart of the Alps, far from the traditional slopes. These itineraries offer an authentic freeride experience, but it is crucial that you always check the safety and opening conditions of these trails before setting off, to enjoy exploring nature to the full and in total safety.
Cross-country skiing
When we think of skiing in Verbier, we mostly think of downhill skiing, but there is an unexpected gem just waiting to be discovered – cross-country skiing. At an altitude of 2 200 metres, you will find meticulously groomed trails, which are suitable for classic styles such as skating. This piste is set in spectacular surroundings, with views of the valley and the majestic Combins mountain range. You will not meet many people along this 2.5-kilometre track, which is a calm and peaceful alternative to downhill skiing for people who are looking for something a little bit different.
Sealskins at night
Around Verbier, the practice of ski touring on sealskins is well-known and well-loved by fans of mountains. But an even more fascinating experience awaits those who dare to venture out after dark: nocturnal ski touring on sealskins. Picture yourself gliding silently across the snow under a starry sky, with only the moonlight lighting up the snowy peaks for company. Far from the effervescence of busy days, the night reveals another side to Verbier, where the mountain becomes almost mystic. This quiet time in nature offers a unique connection with our environment, transforming every ascent into a memorable adventure.
Après-ski for everyone
Après-ski is a must for a 100% complete and unforgettable snow experience!
After a full day on the slopes, there’s nothing better than making the pleasure last in a festive or relaxing atmosphere. Emblematic spots like the Ice Cube Bar and le Mouton Noir, situated directly on the pistes, welcome you for a friendly drink, while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views and live DJ sets.
And if the thought of a drink is not what you want, why not opt for an après-ski that is just as delicious with a comforting hot chocolate? With pink cheeks and your body oxygenated, taking the time to warm up indoors with a good hot chocolate is a real treat.
